About Tanzania
NaLIS

NaLIS - the National Legal Information System - is Tanzania's official digital platform for managing legal aid services, established under the Ministry of Constitutional and Legal Affairs (MoCLA). It brings together citizens, legal aid providers, and government institutions to ensure justice is accessible to all, regardless of economic status. Through NaLIS, citizens can apply for free legal aid, track their application status, find accredited providers near them, and access Alternative Dispute Resolution services. Legal aid organisations can register, manage cases, and connect with those who need assistance all on one unified platform.

Applicants may apply for legal aid through the NALIS application by submitting an online request with the required personal and case details. Supporting documents may be uploaded where applicable. Upon submission, the application will be reviewed by the competent Legal Services Authority to determine eligibility in accordance with applicable legal aid guidelines. Eligible applicants will be provided with appropriate legal assistance, which may include legal advice, mediation services, or assignment of legal counsel. Applicants will be notified of the application status through the NALIS app and other official communication channels.
Users may search for a legal aid provider by selecting the preferred Region and District using the search filters available on the NALIS platform. After selecting the required location details, users should click the "Find Providers" button to view accredited legal aid providers operating within the selected area. The system will display relevant provider information to assist users in identifying and contacting appropriate legal aid services.
To register as an LAP provider, go to the "Register as LAP Provider" section in the NALIS platform and complete the online application form. Upload the required documents and submit your application for review. You will be notified once the registration process is completed.
Yes. Applicants may track the status of their legal aid request through the NALIS platform using the application reference number provided at the time of submission. By entering the reference number in the Application Status section, users can view updates on the progress and outcome of their request, including review status,approval or any additional information required
